On Friday, May 13, the Valhalla Norsemen (3-23) took on the Steele Canyon Cougars (10-16) at home. The ending score was 3-8, Steele Canyon
Going into one of the last games of the season the Valhalla Norsemen were looking to finish the season strong with a win against Steele Canyon.
The Norsemen started off strong scoring three runs in the first inning. Valhalla shut out the Cougars for two innings before Steele scored two in the third.
Pitching for the Norsemen was senior Cole Henderson, who has been a starter for Valhalla all year. Henderson started off the game exceedingly well, giving up zero runs in the first two innings. Later Henderson’s pitching fell apart giving up two runs in the 3rd and leaving the game later in the fourth after allowing four runs.
Steele Canyon’s pitching got off to a rocky start but finished strong. After giving up three runs in the first inning, they did not allow a run the rest of the game. This led to an 8-3 win by the Cougars and a 2-1 series win victory.”Its hard, going out there and putting in all this hard work and having nothing to show for it,” said sophomore Cole Howard.
The Valhalla Norsemen’s next opponent is the El Capitan Vaquros on Tuesday May 17 at El cap.
