The game was at a stalemate for the first four innings, but at the bottom of the fourth Valhalla finally got a run in. They captured another run in the inning and were up 2-0 by the start of the fifth.
Steele caught up and got two runs in the fifth inning, and by the top of the sixth the score was tied 2-2. At the bottom of the sixth inning, Valhalla scored one more run, bringing the score to 3-2.
Steele had one more chance to win or tie the game at the top of the seventh, but they could not get another run in before getting three outs.
Valhalla got their first victory of the year and beat Steele after losing two games to them this season.
The seniors of the team brought their A-game. Each senior contributed vital hits that helped win the game.
After the game, there were activities to honor the seniors on senior night. This year’s softball seniors were Emily Howard, Cambria Keiser, Brandi Kohel, Angelina Guthro, and Karla Serrano.
Each senior walked onto the field with their parents and received a dog tag, sign, and gift bag from their coaches and teammates. All of the girls parents also spoke and gave very heartwarming messages.
“Senior night was amazing and it was the perfect way to end out careers as Norsemen softball players,” said senior and captain Emily Howard.
Overall the night and game were both extremely successful and it was the best way for our softball girls to end their season at home.
