On Tuesday April 26 Valhalla Varsity Baseball faced off against the Steele Canyon Varsity baseball team. The Norsemen baseball team came into the game with a record of 1-17 and the Cougars came into the game with a record of 8-10-1. Valhalla lost the game 3-7.
On the mound pitching for Valhalla baseball team was Senior Justin Poe, one of the Norsemen starting pitchers. He faced of against one of Steele Canyons aces, Noah Nadeau. Valhalla came out of the gates scoring one run and pitching a good first inning, not allowing a Steele to score.
During the second inning neither teams scored, Valhalla keeping the lead into the third inning. In the third inning Steele Canyon’s offense and scored 3 runs taking the lead, 3 to 1.
The Norsemen were shutout in the 3rd,4th, and 5th inning, while Steele Canyon kept raking on the runs, scoring 2 runs in the 4th and 2 more runs in the 5th inning. Junior Jacob Paape later came into the game as Valhalla’s pitcher and Tyler Luban pitched later in the game for Steele Canyon.
Valhalla scored 2 runs in the 6th inning, and none in the 7th inning. Steele Canyon did not score any runs in the 6th and 7th inning, but still took the win against
Valhalla, winning 7 runs to 3.
Valhalla played well against Steele Canyon compared to other games but some crucial errors hurt them against Steele Canyons strong offense. Steele Canyon finished the game with 11 hits and 2 errors while Valhalla finished the game with only 4 hits and 3 errors.
Valhalla’s record fell to 1-18 and Steele Canyon records improved to 9-10-1.
