The construction team has made great strides since the last time Saga spoke with Jason Brust, the facilities manager at Valhalla High School. So far construction is on schedule to finish between the last week of July and the first week of August.
“The contractor is working very diligently to maintain schedule and has been very successful,” said Brust. He added that in order to stay on schedule, the contractors have worked through several weekends.
There are rumors that the senior parking lot is going to be redesigned by next year, with the addition of solar panels. Returning students will be pleased to discover this rumor is true. While still in the design phase, the hope is that it will help not only with bringing clean energy into campus, but also in lessening the dreaded traffic problems in the morning and afternoon. Also, the theater will be rotated 90 degrees so that the seating will be facing the pool.
Brust explained that the most significant changes will be on the four hundred-level. The construction crew has placed a roof over the previously open patio, including skylights and a student restroom.
The construction crew is working on from the ground up. Starting at the first floor, Brewer estimates the construction crew will be able to start the second floor within the next two months. With the dry wall and window frames up, the first floor is almost complete.
